Who Possessed Darkness?

The haunting lights

Under the moon’s dark, patchy presence,
The canvas of persistence,
Darkness was here—
Its uniform layers of calmness,
Invoked drowsiness,
The world drowned in its sleep-inducing-visual sedative,
Sometimes showing dreams without any motive.
With pitch-black consistency;

It repaired the cells,
Mended the mind.
To prepare for the day;
The world slept.

When the tiny lights were born,
It bored a hole in the dark canvas,
Disguised as being productive, creative, active—
The spotlight was attractive.
In the presence of the glittery ghost,
The natural balance was lost,
Shards from the lights pierced the dark depths,
Rupturing the soul of darkness into a million lights,
The bright antidote countered the night sedative;

With black invisible tears, the canvas wept,
Darkness was possessed.
To prepare for the night and the day,
The world no longer slept.
